The OMA Group can trace its origins back to 1984 when a marine services company was first established in Lomé, Togo.
In the year 2000 OMA Togo was incorporated and launched ship agency services to customers for the first time. The reputation for prompt, professional service grew rapidly and in 2007 Gary Miller came on board as MD with a vision to grow the company both geographically and by business sector.
In 2008 customer demand for additional services from OMA led to Carine Noukpo, a Beninois national, opening OMA Benin in Cotonou port – OMA Benin was in fact the first agency in Cotonou to be ISO certified.
This was followed quickly by the incorporation of OMA Ghana in 2009 by Samuel Edmund, a Ghanaian national, with offices in Tema and Takoradi (and more recently Accra airport). OMA Ghana soon established a firm foothold in the shipping and energy logistics support industries.
In 2012 the unrest in Côte d’Ivoire had settled and it was the perfect time to incorporate OMA Côte d’Ivoire with an office in Abidjan strategically close to the port and international airport.
By this time OMA’s customers were requesting services in Senegal to match those along the coast, and so OMA Senegal opened in 2015, with a particular focus on the needs of the energy industry as well as ship agency & husbandry support services.
Towards the end of 2015, Samuel Edmund, Carine Noukpo and Gary Miller completed a management buyout of the OMA Group and set up the group headquarters in Accra, Ghana which provide support services for HR, Accounting, QHSSE and Marketing to the individual OMA Companies.
2018 saw the incorporation of OMA Burkina Faso to facilitate the growing traffic that OMA Ghana,Togo and Côte d’Ivoire were handling to this important landlocked country.
OMA Group are proud too that the CSR project founded with Yinson Production WA Ltd in 2015, became a registered UK charity in 2018 with new partners Fendercare Marine, Prime Insurance and Hapag- Lloyd joining OMA and Yinson. For more information please visit Futurestars.
